Me as a lady!!
Thats right everyone, I was dressed as a lady for the day! It was to gain me entry into Lowestoft and Waveney's newest, ladies in business, networking club, the venus lunch club. As usual I was there representing Gooch Accident Repair Centre. I used one of their courtesy cars to get to the event which was held at the Carlton Manor in Carlton Colville.
Wow what a welcome I received. First I was greeted by Sarah (co-host of the club) who gives you your personalised name badge, then I met up with Wendy (host of the club) who straight away introduced me to Emma Ratzer (Chief Executive of access community trust)who shared with me some of the work and projects that the trust organise in the local area.
Refreshments were plentiful throughout the event, which was a jolly good job with all the talking that was taking place. It's impossible to get around to talking to everyone because everyone you meet is so interesting and you find yourself so engrosed that before you know it, it's time for the presentation.
At each event there's a different speaker, this time, it was Michelle Payne of The Upstairs Gallery in Beccles. Michelle is an elite lifcaster and seems extremely passionate about the work she does. I'm not going to go into detail about the presentation because that'll spoil it for you, make sure you have a look at her work for yourself and try to meet up with her at the gallery, you won't be dissapointed. I wonder if she'd lifecast me? Michelle, what do you think? Maybe I could start off with just spending a day with you to see what's involved, before I bear all.
Lunch was served and this gave us all more time to network, this time I chatted with Amanda Scarff and Rachel Alcock from Cunninghams and Jan Stammers from Millie Rose. I asked Amanda and Rachel a few cheeky questions about how they think I should keep my accounts in order and Jan was super knowledgeable about her particular line of work within Millie Rose which is hair extensions. Another quick chat to Wendy about a teddy bear's picnic idea over a lucious piece of cake and then it was the end, I couldn't believe how time had flown, two and a half hours had gone by like half an hour.
On the way out I met up with Ian from thebestoflowestoft, apparently he's on hand to help set everything up, dissapears out of the grasps of all the women that attend and then reappears to help dismantle all the "staging". Apparently he's got a Twitter Tweeting Session happening on a Tuesday 7-8pm so I'm really going to try hard next week to get myself set up on Twitter, so for those of you who love to Tweet please keep an eye out for me as I may need some tips along the way.
